Turn that thing off!

I had an epiphany this evening while walking home with a helium balloon in one hand and a packet of Maltesers in the other. And it was this: when you switch things off, you save energy. Brilliant! Just flick the switch, and calmness will reign supreme. Problem is, as I have mentioned in a previous post, I have no off switch. Or at least I thought I didn’t. Turns out I do, it just has a slightly dodgy connection so you have to waggle it a bit to get it to work. Well, between yesterday and today I waggled it something fierce and finally I think I have got it to work. This is quite a relief because the excessive energy usage was starting to make the meter burn.
It wasn’t easy mind you – turning things off can be a bit like Valerian tea: stinky but effective. But sometimes a good stinky flick of the switch is exactly what you need to give you the energy required to fuel a new start.
And here endeth today’s lesson. That’s right: the end. Done, finished, klaar, over, basta, finito, schluss, assez, khalas, RIP, period, full stop, end of, kaput, that’s all.)
Now how do you turn this thing on again…
